Palazzo Montalto is an historic building located in Ortigia (the old name of Syracuse Town), in the “Spirduta” district, the beating heart of historical center.
The building is in the Chiaramonte Gothic style. The façade has a tri-hole, a two-hole and a simple single-hole window. The mullioned windows of the trifora are decorated with floral motifs, while the mullioned window offers a baton brise carving. They support these two elegant twisted columns with grappa capitals. In the first order there is a portal Chiaramontano, surmounted by an aedicule containing the marble slab that states the date of construction. A saw-tooth stringcourse cornice divides the two orders. The interior has an atrium with an open staircase and a porch with porch overlooking the garden. Upstairs, the other loggia leads to the main hall.
